Math Tutoring

About Me

I am an undergraduate student at CU Boulder. I love math and education and I am majoring in both! I love to spend time outdoors in nature, especially in the spring when everything is green and new. I love seeing everything growing, the world feels alive full of joy and passion. That is also what I love about teaching, helping students find joy and passion in math and in school.

Learning and curiosity are so much of what makes us human and I believe that these are at the heart of a good education. I strive to help students develop a conceptual understanding of math and the skills needed to continue to do that on their own. My goal in tutoring is always to develop engaged and independent learners who know their strengths and weaknesses, how to accommodate and advocate for themselves, and what drives them forward. I have had my fair share of struggles in school which has given me the compassion and personal experience necessary to help students find their way to academic success! I have worked with students with ADHD, Autism, giftedness, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, as well as students who have specific but unlabeled strengths and struggles. I believe anyone can learn, and that everyone deserves to learn. I would be honored be a part of your student’s educational journey!

Experience

  • Online Tutoring (Summer 22 - Summer 23)

    I tutored online in English and Math. I have a plethora of games, activities, and tools that I use to facilitate learning online and make it just as meaningful and impactful as meeting in-person tutoring!

  • Jeffco Summer of Early Learning (Summer 22)

    I was an intern at Jefferson county’s elementary summer school. I mostly taught math and I worked with amazing kids, amazing teachers and amazing curriculum! I learned a lot about teaching math conceptually in early grades and why number sense is so important.

  • Field Work (Fall 21 - Spring 22)

    I completed over 300 hours of field work at a local elementary school. I worked with multiple mentor teachers in multiple grades. I designed lesson and projects and taught whole classl lessons weekly. I learned to collect, track, and interpret student data to improve teaching. I tutored students in math 1:1 as well as in small groups.

  • Future Educator Honor Roll (2022)

    This is an award from Colorado Department of Higher Education that I was nominated for and won in my Junior year in high school for my dedication to my field work and classwork in the Education and Leadership program I was in.

  • Tutor at tutoring center (Fall 23-Spring 24)

    I worked at a tutoring center as a math tutor for the 2023-24 school year. I tutored students as young as 2nd grade and as old a 9th grade. I am transitioning back to independent tutoring now that I have my bearings in Boulder.

  • Independent Tutoring (2019-Present)

    I tutored independently in Math, English, and Science throughout high school. I transitioned to a tutoring center when I moved to Boulder for college. I am tutoring independently again to have more autonomy and reach more students.

  • Double Major: Math & Education

    I am an undergraduate student studying math and education at the University of Colorado Boulder. I am deeply passionate about both of these subjects and I have been lucky enough to find professors who are just as passionate as me who are helping me to advance my knowledge and practice!

  • Generation Teach (Summer 24)

    I am workin at a summer STEM Academy where I am teaching engineering and team spots.

  • Practicum (Spetember 24 - Present)

    Practicum placements are similar to student teaching but on a smaller scale. I go 6-10 hr/week and work alongside a master teacher to plan and teach students in middle or high school math classrooms. I am currently working with 9th and 10th graders in a geometry classroom.
